Molecular Biomimetics

The Photosynthesis Groups studies both in natural and artificial photosynthesis. In natural photosynthesis, the research focus on Photosystem II and the organisation of the thylakoid membrane. In artificial photosynthesis we study synthetic manganese and ruthenium-manganese complexes.
The synthesis group The synthesis group is focused on design and synthesis of metallo-organic complexes intended for artificial photosynthesis. The group is active in synthesizing photosystem II mimicking manganese complexes, ruthenium complexes, and iron complexes mimicking hydrogenases.

SOLAR-H was a European network financed by the EU Commission through the NEST programme (from 2003 to 2008). It involved 8 groups in 6 countries devoted to the formation of hydrogen from solar energy and water using natural and artificial photosynthesis.

SOLAR-H2 is the European network financed by the EU Commision (FP7/Energy) succeeding Solar-H. It brings together 12 world-leading European laboratories from 8 countries to carry out integrated, basic research aimed at achieving renewable hydrogen (H2) production from environmentally safe resources.

The research in the Swedish Consortium for Artificial Photosynthesis is directed to production of and environmentally friendly fuel, hydrogen, from the sustainable resources solar energy and water.
